NetFlix.comWith over 65,000 titles available, flexible rental plans, fast shipping (from 41 separate distribution centers across the United States), a free two-week trial and an easy-to-use website, what’s not to like? We received our selected discs quickly every time (although we never got them in one business day as the site suggests).
Because we didn’t have any real problems with Netflix’s service, we had to feign a shipping problem; in this case we contacted customer support via the online form (no telephone support seems to be available), and asked why a DVD we claimed had been...

Blockbuster.comThings didn’t start out well for Blockbuster.com: the image-based home page menu refused to load in the Firefix browser. Changing to Safari (Mac) or Internet Explorer (PC) fixed things on our end, and we were quickly able to sign up for the single plan offered: $18 per month for three DVDs (or games – a great bonus) at a time.
We received our DVDs in about the same amount of time that it took with Netflix, and we experienced no difficulties with delivery or the quality of the discs, so once again we had to manufacture a difficulty,...

Cafe DVDCafeDVD offers an impressive selection of films: 60,000, which is almost the same number as NetFlix or Blockbuster! Their website is simple to use, although somewhat cluttered at times, but the tradeoff is that there are a large number of canned searches available at a single click.
DVD shipping times are not as short as with Netflix or Blockbuster, but they are competitive, averaging between two to four days. We received our first package after three days, and because of CafeDVD’s excellent quality control policy, all of the discs played fine.
When we fabricated a report...

DVD AvenuePlan flexibility and a powerful search function are key differentiators for DVD Avenue, but with less than 25% of the selection of our top two services, slower shipping (DVDs can take up to a week to arrive) and we also ran into a possible issue with customer service.
Once we finally received our DVD selections (four business days after the order went in), we contacted customer support (both online and toll-free options are available) to notify them that one of the DVDs was damaged in transit. Although we reached a real person without difficulty, it took much cajoling...

Quik FliksFrequent visitors to Internet Consumers Report will know that we like to recommend smaller, independent companies. Unfortunately, we cannot do this in QuikFlicks.com case. They have a decent selection of films, but their disgraceful customer attitude really scares us: We’ve copied a section of their “Customer Support” page here, which says more than we could in a review.
“Most of your questions should be answered here. Sometimes it just take a minute to figure out where your questions fits because it is worded differently. but for those that really want to talk with someone feel free to...
